Principles

Last updated

Over time my actions and decisions translate to a set of rules, or principles, that affect my future behavior in various situations. Below there is an always-living list, so any point here can be a subject of change, especially when I find it no longer serves me well enough.

  • be useful at scale
  • optimize for real utility
  • measure impact by usefulness x reach
  • break things down to what is most likely true
  • think in limits
  • treat constraints as the real map
  • protect your feedback loop
  • be humble enough to update
  • seek truth over comfort
  • build more than you study
  • research for leverage, engineer for reality
  • execution is where truth gets tested
  • shape the future you cannot avoid
  • ask ‘why?’ until the constraint is clear
  • do not accept ‘no’ without understanding it
  • default to motion
  • multiply through others
